Following on from their 2020 self-titled debut, New Zealand based funeral doom band BLEED THIS EARTH release their 4 track, 42 minute odyssey of despair, THE SLOW DECLINE.
The album, written as a more ambitious and expansive follow up to their well-received debut, features signature interweaved guitar lines created to evoke sadness, despair, and regret. The tracks from The Slow Decline were honed through engaging, hypnotic live performances at local venues throughout Wellington, New Zealand where the band are based. Each track uses a mixture of dynamics, melody and crushing riffs to take the listener on an emotional journey, creating a soundscape that encourages listeners to sit and contemplate the meaning of existence.
BLEED THIS EARTH are a melodic funeral doom band based in Wellington, New Zealand. Drawing influences from the more old-school, English side of Doom metal and modern funeral doom pioneers Ahab, the music is heavy and features growling vocals and a mix of melodic lead lines and crushing riffs. Formed in 2019, the band consists of Stuart Fone on guitar, Chris Pointer on guitar, and Justin Chorley on drums and vocals.
BLEED THIS EARTH released their debut, self-titled album in April 2020. Their follow-up 2022 release, The Slow Decline, continues the evolution of their sound into alternative song structures while remaining oppressively heavy.
