"Darkroom" is an album made by 16 hands. Eight sound artists from different states of Brazil participated in a creative process in anonymity, where each one only got to know each other at the end of three stages proposed by the collective that organized the Frestas Teluricas online festival. This festival sought ways to keep musical presentations and interactions alive, remotely, during the most intense period of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the album "Darkroom" thus sought to further radicalize the alternatives of creation at a distance. The creative process was divided into three stages during the first half of 2022.
Creative process
In the first stage, the participating artists submitted sound materials of any type, origin or nature on a shared platform, without any indication of authorship. As a result, a kind of bank of sounds was formed, which became available for use in the next stage. The platform guaranteed everyone's anonymity, as it was an email account from which everyone had the password to access and upload the sounds to its drive.
In the second stage, the participants were free to mine the desired sounds, edit them, combine them, compose sound pieces or continue to feed back the platform with new sounds.
In the third stage, the Frestas Teluricas team carried out a selection of the pieces, in order to produce a representative disc of what was the process of collective creation at a distance.

The production of "Darkroom" also featured a series of videos that tell how was the production process of the disc in 5 episodes, in addition to a "Live" release where the artists talk about the creative experience, and concepts such as "Indeterminacy ", "Authorship" and "Improvisation" in music are debated.
