Aztlan (MX) Folk | Death Metal | Progressive
In Mexico there is a command of the dead called Aztlan. The band formed in 2018 and mixes Mexican folk music with the sound of metal. The concept of Aztlan is to expose the Mexican culture from ancient times like Aztecs and Mayan to the present day with the sound of Mariachi and Prehispanic Music through a world full of mysticism. The image of the band evokes the traditional ‘Day of the Dead’.
The group released their first album, Mexico Inmortal (2019), and it explored for the first time the mix of acoustic and electric sounds, evoking the old Aztec dances with an aggressive sound. The following album, Legion Mexica (2020), showed the mix of mariachi becoming more and more noticeable in each of the songs with ancestral stories such as the Mictlan forming the themes. The Mictlan is the Aztec underworld, the City of the Dead, it is the place where they have to go through nine levels until they reach eternal life in the presence of Mictlantecuhtli The Lord of Death.
Aztlan completed their 3rd album, Revolución, in 2021 and will be released via Sliptrick Records this year.
MisophoniA are a melodic metal act hailing from Glasgow Scotland. The group is heavily influenced by European melo-death acts such as Dark Tranquillity and At the Gates while showcasing some black metal and doom tendencies akin to the stylings of Satyricon, Primordial, Paradise lost and My Dying Bride. The Band formed back in 2017 and performed their first show in 2018, they went on to play a handful of shows alongside local Glasgow and Edinburgh acts as well as playing as opening support to Godthrymm.
2019 into 2020 saw the band going through a very rough transitional period due to sudden line-up departures in April of 2019. It took the band until 2020 to find suitable replacements complicated by the Covid 19 pandemic as well. The band prevailed and in the summer of 2020 MisophoniA were joined by Justin Laidlaw on Guitars and Kenneth Boyle on drums. The band then managed to compile a 5 track EP aptly titled New Beginnings which saw the band trying out a new sound and got the band back on the radar.
MisophoniA have gone from strength to strength, you could say it’s the bands resurrection. Now in 2022, the band are stronger than ever and are enjoying the newest fruits of their labour, the release El Silencio Será Eterno.
Two Ton Memory (US) Alternative Metal | Hard Rock | Post Grudge
Two Ton Memory is an alternative metal, hard rock, post grunge band from Marietta, Ohio, US. The band was formed in 2020 when brothers, Josh and Jeremy Arnott began playing music with Ben Murray. After going through multiple singers, they finally found Dan Howell through a Facebook “Musicians” wanted group. Two Ton Memory went into full swing just two weeks before the coronavirus pandemic and naturally had to adapt to the world as it currently was. The group spent the year writing, expanding their production knowledge and recording their first three song title, which was simply titled III.
Since then, Two Ton Memory has also released a second four song EP titled Stay Human. Ben Murray exited the band early 2022 with Zach Schexnider stepping into the role of drummer shortly after.
